December 29: Setting the Table, literally and figuratively. Using our dining room table to prep for the trip. We need cold weather gear for Zodiac trips from the ship and a few warm weather items for our three days precruise in Santiago. Silversea gives us bright red, very warm parkas, and we have rented boots. But, we still need gloves, hats, base layers, socks, trekking poles, and clothes to wear around the ship. Going to Antarctica has been a wish of mine for many years. This Fall we decided that if we were ever going to go, now was the time. I recovered well from my second knee replacement, giving me the confidence for Zodiac touring and landings. And, sadly, in the past three months three friends, each from a different phase of our lives, died. So, we will travel while we are able to enjoy the adventure together. 🐧
